Understanding our bone health as we age is so important to reduce the chance of devastating fractures. Sarah Atkins, Physician Assistant at OSS Health, spoke on this important topic last evening at a Women's Wellness Fair hosted by LHM Physical Therapy in Shrewsbury. She discussed risk factors associated with osteoporosis and low bone density, and ways in which to diagnose and treat both conditions. Interested in learning more? Last Thursday, Dr. Scott King participated in a panel discussion at the Post and Schell 2025 Workplace Law Seminar. Panelists answered questions about the intersection of workers' compensation and employment law with various issues that arise in the workplace. Topics included challenging workplace injuries, impairment, and substance abuse issues. We are thankful to Dr. King for being a part of this event and for sharing his valuable insight on these topics that impact so many businesses.

OSS Health Physiatrist, Dr. Brian Steinmetz, recently spoke at the 2025 International Pain and Spine Intervention Society meeting held in Denver. Joined by some of his OSS Health colleagues at the annual event, his lecture focused on lumbar stress fractures in athletes. We are proud of our physicians who continue to share their knowledge and expertise with the goal of advancing interventional pain medicine.

OSS Health Pain Management Physician, Dr. Taryn Reichard (right), and Community Liaison, Wendy Crecelius, were excited to participate in The Salvation Army Harrisburg Capital City Region's 14th Annual Shoe Strut. More than 750 people attended the event on Friday, which featured a luncheon, a live and silent auction, and fun contests. For every attendee, a new pair of shoes will be given to a local child in need and all money raised will support the organization's many programs and services.

Congratulations to OSS Health Physiatrist, Dr. Michael Furman, on receiving the Charles N. Aprill Lifetime Achievement Award for his significant career-spanning contributions to the field of interventional pain medicine!

During the 2025 International Pain and Spine Intervention Society's (IPSIS) Annual Meeting held last week in Denver, past IPSIS President, Joshua Rittenberg, MD, presented Dr. Furman with this award. It is the highest distinction the Society bestows and is given to only the most influential minds in the field.

We are so proud of Dr. Furman for receiving this prestigious award and for his ongoing dedication to advancing interventional pain medicine.

The list, compiled by Becker's Hospital Review, was based on questions to patients asking how well their nurses explained things clearly, listened carefully to them, and treated them with courtesy and respect. On Wednesday evening, OSS Health's Dr. Abbie Kelley spoke to the Spring Grove Girls' Soccer Team about ways in which they can optimize their sports performances by being mindful of their overall health. She discussed how addressing the medical, orthopedic, psychological and nutritional needs of female athletes not only allows for improvement to their game, but also minimizes the risk of injury.
