Guidance for holiday planning:
We have received a large number of calls with questions regarding travel and gathering during the holiday season. Our best advice is to employ every cautionary measure at your disposal. Avoid travel if you can, isolate if you have any symptoms potentially linked with COVID (even if they are your "normal" allergy symptoms), and test if you are able. For those of you with family members who had or may have had COVID, please know that as of current understanding, the vast majority of people will clear of any transmissible virus within 14 days of infection. That does mean however, and this has been confirmed in studies, that a small percentage of people will continue to shed transmissible virus for up to 6 weeks after infection. If you do gather, please wear masks indoors except while actively eating, seat immediate household members at the same table for meals and distant from other householders, and limit your gathering. As is circulating on the internet, "better a virtual Thanksgiving than an ICU Christmas".
As the holiday season approaches, we ask that you particularly remember your friends and neighbors, who, like most of us, have struggled these last few months.
We are once again collecting new, unwrapped toys for struggling families through Toys for Tots from now until December 4th.
