For BAYADA Physical Therapist Mark Wussler, the work has always been deeply personal. With compassion equal to his clinical expertise, Mark empowers clients to heal not only physically but also emotionally—helping them rediscover joy, purpose, and identity in their daily lives.

When his client, Boonta, was diagnosed with a brain tumor, everything changed. Following surgery, she faced challenges with balance, coordination, and confidence. Mark built a personalized plan around her dream of returning to the tennis court—coaching her through strength, balance, and speed training, while tying each milestone back to her goal of playing again.

💙 Meet Maddy:
Maddy uses a wheelchair and depends on her caregivers for all aspects of care. She is nonverbal, but she lets you know when she’s happy or uncomfortable through her sweet vocalizations.

Eats pureed foods by mouth + drinks from a bottle

G-tube for flushes & meds

Needs assistance with feeding, toileting & repositioning

Wears hand & foot braces, uses a stander at school

Overhead lift & ramp at home for safe transfers

Nurses also accompany her to school 🚌

Maddy lives with her mom, stepdad, and siblings. The home has indoor/outdoor cats 🐱, two dogs 🐶, and even a hedgehog 🦔!

Meet Your New Clinical Manager – Valerie Why!🎉

"Hello BAYADA York Team!

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to all of you in the YORK BAYADA community. My name is Valerie Why, and I’m excited to share that I’ve officially joined the team as the new Clinical Manager at the York office! I just wrapped up my first week—and I made it!

I’m proud to call York County home. I grew up throughout the area and graduated from York County High School. As an adult learner, I returned to school to pursue nursing, first earning my Practical Nursing degree from York County School of Technology. After a year in healthcare, I decided to further my education and later graduated from Harrisburg Area Community College (York Campus) with my Registered Nursing degree.

Since becoming an LPN, I’ve worked in a variety of settings, including post-surgical bedside nursing at UPMC Harrisburg and outpatient wound care at Penn State Health’s Camp Hill Wound Care Center. I am also NAWCO Wound Care Certified. During my outpatient work, I was introduced to home health as a field nurse—and I quickly fell in love with the personal relationships and flexibility it offers. Home health has given me the opportunity to grow as a nurse while maintaining a healthy work-life-education balance.

Outside of work, I live in East York with my husband, our three children, and two cats. I’m an animal lover—as long as they have fewer than four legs! I enjoy reading biographies and nonfiction, traveling, and discovering hidden gems and quirky places off the beaten path. I'm always the first one ready in the car for a spontaneous day trip—let’s go!

I’m incredibly excited to be here and truly appreciate the warm welcome I’ve already received. I’m learning so much and look forward to supporting our clients, families, and nursing staff in the coming weeks. I can’t wait to meet more of you soon!"❤️
