Meet Dr. McGuinness, Volunteer OBGYN 👋

Dr. McGuinness’s earliest memories of “what do you what to be” were “I want to be a doctor.” Growing up, he always wanted to be helpful to others and feel like he was making a difference. 🩺

After medical school, Dr. McGuinness served as a general practitioner for four years on the Texas-Mexico border. After his service, he completed his Ob-Gyn residency at York Hospital. 👩🏾‍🍼Dr. McGuinness specialized in gynecology and has been practicing for over twenty years.

While at Katallasso, Dr. McGuinness has been able to fulfill his desire to help others and make a difference. He finds great satisfaction in knowing that someone was aided with a problem that, ordinarily, would not be. He shared that “providing access that wasn’t available previously has been gratifying. The giving back is the best.”

When asked what advice he would give to others considering joining Katallasso, he said: 👉“Join us here. Give it a try. The benefits are outstanding.”

🎵 As for his hobbies, Dr. McGuinness enjoys traveling, reading and playing the guitar.

Thank you to Angie Altimus of 3rd Space Coffee House in York Haven for recently blessing Katallasso staff with and fresh cinnamon buns (that were still warm). We encourage people to go visit them to enjoy fresh coffee and baked goods. ☕🥐

3rd Space is part of the ministry and mission of Common Ground Church in York Haven.

Thank you, Judy Pittenger, for your five years of service as Katallasso’s staff nurse!

This spring, our team celebrated Judy’s retirement after a 56-year career in nursing.

Judy’s incredible experience and bond with our patients will be missed. We wish her God’s richest blessings in her retirement. Congratulations, Judy!

12 years of caring for the community and counting!

We recently celebrated Katallasso’s 12th birthday with a lasagna lunch from our volunteer, Deb Chmiel. Yes - this is a ‘12’ made out of cheese on the lasagna!

We are humbled by the community support throughout the years. We plan to continue providing care until every uninsured family member is valued, cared for and loved.
