TLC takes a holistic approach in providing encouragement, person-centered support, and growth opportunities to the individuals we serve.

Typical Life Corporation (TLC) is a private, not for profit, charitable organization that was incorporated in 1999. The agency was founded on progressive and innovative techniques in order to improve the quality of services offered to individuals who have a disability. Although disabled, the individuals served by TLC have the same rights, responsibilities, and opportunities to be active members of society. TLC provides support to individuals from York and Adams Counties who are diagnosed with intellectual disabilities. Support is provided via licensed group homes, semi-independent living apartments, in-home support services, adult training programs, outpatient programs, faith-based programs, and vocational services. TLC's purpose is to provide supports to assist individuals with disabilities to live a normal life in the community. TLC helps individuals become active members of their community.

Individuals in our TLC Day Program soaked up the sunshine and fresh air at Codorus State Park recently. Having a beautiful day in the park is just one of the many ways we stay active and connected in the community. ☀️

With locations in York City and Gettysburg, Typical Life Corporation's Day Options offers limitless opportunities for individuals with IDD to build communication, social, vocational, physical fitness, and community integration skills — all in a safe, supportive environment.

In 2024, we provided 25,958 hours of support to neurodiverse adults in York and Adams counties.

TLC individuals learn skills, become more independent, and experience meaningful activities every day. For families, they have peace of mind knowing their loved ones are in good care. And for our community, thousands of volunteer hours strengthen our local organizations.

Individuals at TLC recently took a trip to the Appalachian Trail Museum in Cumberland County, PA.

They moved through the wheelchair accessible museum including the ground floor that presented a challenge for entry as it was accessible by a grass and dirt hill. During the visit they had the opportunity to view historical structures and discover the history of the trails establishment in the 1920s. They also visited the Pine Grove Furnace learning about the importance of their state in the industrial development of the US.

The group enjoyed the outing and look forward to future trips to the region.
