Each of us experiences defining, pivotal moments that set us on a new trajectory.

When I began advanced yoga teacher training through the Himalayan Institute with June Hunt, it very quickly became apparent that I had much to learn. There were huge gaps in my understanding and perception of what is meant by "yoga." My mind, particularly when learning, is like a roller-coaster of inquiry, continually asking questions to delve deeper into the material (probably to the annoyance of teachers!) The training through HI was exceptional, and I eagerly approached each weekend immersion with curiousity at the forefront.

I became a yoga teacher because of the profound physical, mental, and emotional growth I experienced through my own practice, coupled with witnessing similar benefits in others. My dharma is as teacher, so teaching yoga became a natural extension of my dharma. I've always taken the responsibility of teaching seriously, which is why I view my life as a perpetual students. That mindset is what led me to pursue advanced teacher training and earn my 500hr. certificate through HI.

Back to that defining moment....

When I realized how little I knew, I applied to and was accepted to Naropa University's MA in Yogic Studies program. Four years later, I've completed this phase of my journey. The field of yoga is incredibly vast, which isn't suprising when one considers that the roots of yoga are 2500+ years into the past. Yoga is so much more than the physical postures. It's a powerful, intricate tapestry, and I'm grateful to have uncovered just a bit more through my studies. πŸ•‰οΈ

The best part? I can infuse my teaching with this informed knowledge to the benefit of my students. And really---how fortunate am I??? Woo hoo!!

And to anyone who thinks they're too old to go to college---poppycock! It can be done! Easy? No. Fulfilling? YES! πŸ”₯πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™ƒ
