The singing mayor has always been a favorite of ours. The residents and employees both know who we are talking about when the mayor is mentioned. It had almost been a year that went by and we hadn't seen him. Well rest assure we found him. His show did not disappoint. Him and his family are always worth the wait.

Three months ago, we started a Resident Ambassador program. The idea was to have a group of helpful residents to welcome new residents and to be available to their neighbors for any help they may need. This team has surpassed anything I thought it could be. Watching them offer to walk someone back to their room. We had one ride an elevator when she usually takes the steps, just to show a new friend the route she would usually take. Last month they come up with an idea to throw a party to encourage engagement with someone new. And we did. Today we had a game day, blackjack, balloon pop, bean bag toss, spin art, air hockey. All stations were ran by ambassadors. New friends were made; goal was achieved. Special Shout Out to Lisa from Ascend Hospice, her help and vibes are always unmatched.

It takes a village. This phrase is true throughout life. There are days of the month that there is no one 'working' in activities. However, there are never days when something isn't happening. Those days are where the village is crucial. No matter what it is, just gathering everyone for a movie or making sure everyone knows that the weekend of fun and music isn't over and Doug and Adair are here to give another great performance...... The village at AHW makes it happen. Thank you to all the nurses and housekeeping that made sure residents had a time today.

These smiles should let you know how the weekend of fun and music is going! This morning we started with gathering with our friends in Laurel Court for balloon madness. Then hallway take over allowed some residents to try out a new toy we will be debuting at the ambassador thrown party next weekend. We ended the day with fun, singing, and dancing with Randi and Tom LaNasa, Tomorrow we continue the party with musical entertainment with Doug and Adair.

The beginning of the year has had lots of memories. Unfortunately pictures weren't taken. We painted snowflakes to redecorate the activities room, the breakfast club treat was waffles and scrapbooking was full of laughs. The residents had their first Walmart trip of the year and today we ventured out to eat at the York Buffet to ensure everyone got what they were craving. I definitely caught the smiles of residents with full bellies.

Christmas week came and went faster than residents getting to bingo!

There was a surprise in my email, one of our residents shot some pictures at our Christmas party and I thought it would be great for you to see what the party looked like through the eyes of the resident.

From our family to yours, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Today was our Christmas celebration. We indulged in delicious, deviled eggs and crab stuffed mushrooms, choice of cranberry herb roasted chicken or pecan crusted salmon served with Frangelico sauce, both were partnered with rice pilaf and maple bacon roasted brussel sprouts. All of it was prepared in house by Chef Jason. Finished up with a slice of cheese cake. Then the AHW carolers brought in Santa and the Christmas Joy is written on everyones face :) Santa Skip and Mrs. Claus are a fairy tale duo.

When you want to surprise your residents but the snap shots you take come out blurry from your own excitement. However, you know you can count on this one taking selfies. You can also count her letting me use them. The full gallery of pictures will go up tomorrow. Full coverage of the event will be on Fox 43 10 o'clock news and again in the morning.

The York County Sheriff's office made memories for all today.

We kicked off the Christmas season with a bang. We had sticky buns for breakfast club, made some Christmas lights to hang. That was all before Wednesday when the residents and employees decorated pretty much the entire building in one day :) Then today Laurel Court joined us to be serenaded with Christmas songs by William Penn High School.
