in Economics from Emory College in 1983. She continued her pre-optometry science classes at the University of Pennsylvania and received her Doctor of Optometry at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Dr. Schiffman continued her optometric training through internships at John F. Kennedy Hospital specializing in hospital based optometry and ophthalmologic co-management of glaucoma, ocular disease, inflammation, trauma, retinopathy, laser surgery, and cataracts. Dr. Schiffman has cared for patients in New York since she currently sees patients at her office in Yorktown Heights . Dr. Schiffman has extensive experience in family eye care, including dry eye management, computer vision problem solving, childrens eye examinations, adult eye care, eye surgery co-management, and contact lens fittings (including multifocal, astimatism lenses, and gas permeable lenses). Dr. Schiffman's training and experience allow her to diagnose, treat, and manage or co-manage most eye conditions. She works closely with many local eye specialists and surgeons in order to help guide her patients to the best care. Professional memberships include The Westchster Rockland Putnam Optometric Association and The American Optometric Association. In 2011, Dr. Schiffman traveled to Thailand with the organization One Sight to provide free eye examinations and distributed recycled eyewear to over 17,000 patients in two weeks. She continued to see patients yearly in other third world countries annually. Other interests of Dr. Schiffman include spending time with her family, traveling, excercising, volunteering, and reading and now taking care of her late cousin Jill Freedman’s photography archives !
