We’re excited to welcome Dr. Philip Suarez, a Board-Certified OB/GYN with nearly 40 years of experience, to our Outpatient Specialty Clinic. He is now providing a full spectrum of gynecological services from preventive care, hormone therapy, to advanced surgical procedures so you don’t have to travel far for quality care.

Dr. Suarez completed his education at St. Louis University, served proudly in the U.S. Air Force, and has been a leader in women’s health in the Victoria region for decades. He also helped introduce DaVinci Robotic Surgery to the area and has performed more than 1,200 robotic cases.

🌟 Provider Spotlight: Angela Watts Powell, DO 🌟

Cuero Regional Hospital recently welcomed Dr. Angela Watts Powell, Family Medicine with Obstetrics Physician, to our medical team!

A native of Pearland, Texas, Dr. Watts Powell’s love for science and caring for others began early — nurtured by supportive parents and a menagerie of pets ranging from dogs and cats to horses, cows, fish, crustaceans, and reptiles! Although she was once expected to become a veterinarian, her passion for helping people guided her toward a career in medicine.

Dr. Watts Powell earned her bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science and Psychology from Texas A&M University before attending medical school at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio. During medical school, she discovered her calling in family medicine, particularly enjoying pediatrics and obstetrics. She went on to complete her residency at UT Health in Athens, TX, where she gained valuable experience caring for a rural community.

Now, she’s excited to bring that same dedication to Cuero Regional Hospital. While she’s trained to care for patients of all ages, her greatest passion lies in caring for women and children and providing a safe, supportive environment for mothers to deliver their babies close to home.

Outside of work, Dr. Watts Powell and her husband enjoy animal husbandry, gardening, traveling, art, and exploring new foods. They stay busy with their two energetic boys who love playing soccer and baseball.
