Therapy Expectations Vs. Actual Therapy.

Therapy expectations can look like
🌞 Constant big Breakthroughs
🌞 Getting advice
🌞 "And how does that make you feel?"
🌞 A lot of crying
🌞 Quick solutions and instant fixes

When actual therapy is like this:
🌞 Slowly building trust and a solid therapeutic relationship
🌞 Sometimes slow progress with occasional big leaps
🌞 Occasionally feeling like you have nothing to talk about...then saying something really important 5 minutes before end of your session
🌞 Getting called out (gently) by your therapist
🌞 Working together to find your OWN answers and solutions
🌞 Sometimes having to push through discomfort and frustration for breakthrough and solutions
🌞 Gaining new perspectives, sometimes solutions are simple and just need a different outlook!
and a good mix of laughter, crying and all of the other emotions.

Growth isn't linear & progress takes time, commitment and effort. ❤

Codependent Vs. Boundary-led thinking. Let's get into it!

🌱Codependent thinking is believing you must keep the peace, regardless of costs, meanwhile boundary-led thinking is asserting your needs even if it creates temporary discomfort.
🌱Codependent thinking is you must fix/save right away, boundary-led thinking is saying "I will sit in this discomfort with you".
🌱Codependent thinking is feeling upset or anxious when they are upset, boundary-led thinking is understanding their emotions are their own, and you can support without absorbing them.
🌱Codependent thinking is that you need others approval to feel seen and validated, boundary-led thinking is understanding your self-worth comes from within.
