So fun!
A little late from last weeks guest, but sharing a thank-you to Sarah Cercone, LCSW, for joining my Intro to Health & Wellness in Contemporary Society class at Youngstown State University this week. I can’t go without saying how much I am grateful for these wonderful professionals taking time out of their busy personal and professional lives to come drop some gems to our students. Bridging the gap between theory and real life practice, connecting them to tangible people, places and programs right here in our community.
Sarah led a thought provoking and supportive conversation and interactive demonstration that engaged each one of us, helping us consider how elements of identity may or may not show up in how we present ourselves to the world, and connected it to personal development. She shared with us a little insight on some of the ways how she helps and supports people in her niche area of relational health.
Relationship health influences our overall well-being. She introduced students to the wide range of relationship structures people may choose, including concepts like ethical non-monogamy and polyamory, helping students understand the language they may encounter in clinical, community, and wellness settings.
Most importantly, Sarah encouraged students to consider what it means to show up authentically in their relationships-with themselves and with others—while emphasizing respect, consent, and healthy communication.
Grateful for professionals like Sarah who help our students broaden their awareness, challenge assumptions, and develop the skills to show up as, and support, diverse individuals and communities.
Thank you Sarah!!
