She chose herself. She chose to keep glowing—even when it got hard.
This tribute is for her. And for every woman like her.
This May, in honor of Women’s Health Month and Mother’s Day—and in memory of someone who left a lasting mark on my heart—we’re giving back.
Her name was Marilyn.
She came to see me just a few weeks before she passed. I had the honor of doing her microblading, and I was honestly blown away by her spirit. She was radiant, full of life, warm, and deeply determined. I didn’t even know how far along she was in her battle with breast cancer—because she carried herself with such grace and strength.
When I found out she had passed shortly after, it hit me.
I knew I wanted to keep her spirit going somehow. Because what I do—helping women feel beautiful, confident, and like themselves again—mattered to her.
She believed in holistic care.
She believed in honoring her body.
She believed in choosing herself, even in the hardest moments.
That day, she chose to show up for herself—intentionally, unapologetically.
And that choice... it meant everything.
To her.
To me.
And to what Color Vanity stands for.
That’s what Color Vanity is all about.
It’s not just beauty—it’s choice.
It’s empowerment.
It’s a reminder that even when life feels out of control, you still get to decide how you carry yourself, how you care for yourself, how you want to feel.
Marilyn chose that.
And so, this gift is for her.
