🌟 Transformation Tuesday 🌟

This patient came in with years of severe left hip pain following a car accident. Preoperative X-rays reveal prior hardware for a femur fracture complicated by avascular necrosis of the femoral head. Postoperative imaging demonstrates hardware removal and successful conversion to a left total hip arthroplasty using Mako robotic-assisted technology. ✅

This patient is 6 weeks post op from a Mako robotic-assisted total knee replacement—progress is happening, but some challenges remain. Stiffness and working on range of motion make each day a test of patience and perseverance!

An impressive transformation! This patient started with significant valgus deformities (knock-knees) of both knees due to severe osteoarthritis. Now, with Mako robotic-assisted total knee replacements, she has restored alignment, stability, and function. ⭐️✅🦿

This patient had a whole ‘family’ of loose bodies removed during their robotic-assisted total knee replacement surgery!

Loose bodies are small fragments of cartilage or bone that break off in arthritic joints due to wear and tear. They can cause pain, swelling, and limit movement. Their removal helps restore proper joint function and improves mobility.

Prior to surgery this patient’s range of motion was 10-95 degrees. At about 1 month post op, the patient is doing very well and range of motion is now 0-115 degrees. ✅ ⭐️

Christmas came early this year in the OR! Dr. Kuwik’s favorite surgical instrument, the Kocher, just got an upgrade—four shiny new additions! 🎁

Of course, surgical instruments are always sterilized and this photo was taken after the case was finished.
