Today we’re celebrating the heart of our community: the small businesses that keep us connected, supported, and growing.
As a clinician within a trauma-focused therapy practice, I see every day how healing begins in relationships. And our local small businesses are a huge part of that support system. When you choose small, you’re investing in people, not corporations… in care, not convenience… in spaces that help our community feel safe, grounded, and seen.
🧠💛 Thank you for supporting me as a therapist and for supporting the Trauma Therapy Company I’m proud to be a part of. Your trust allows me to show up for survivors, families, and individuals who deserve trauma-informed, compassionate care close to home.
And today, I want to shout out some of my absolute favorite small businesses:
📸 Photos For Keeps by Erin
Erin not only did my headshots, but she brings her kindness, warmth, and passion to every session she touches. From family photos to senior portraits to weddings, she captures real, unfiltered moments with a level of love and artistry that’s truly unmatched. Her woman-owned business is built on heart, and it shows in every photo.
☕️ The Coffee Shop at Ridgewood
This local gem has been my go-to spot for years. Between the incredible customer service, thoughtful atmosphere, coffee, food, and baked goods, I’m thrilled they’re just a minute from the office. It’s my cozy corner of sanity and safety, whether I need a caffeine lifeline, a quiet space to think, or a moment to breathe between sessions.
💪 HughesFit Training
Chris helps people reconnect with their bodies in empowering, trauma-informed ways. Strength, safety, and encouragement are his foundation, the kind that carries you long after you leave the gym. His coaching goes far beyond workouts and blends strength training, nutrition support, online guidance, and real-life, sustainable tools that help people make lasting change. He’s truly invested in whole-person wellness, body and mind.
🎨 To My Tattoo Artists, Cosmetology Friends, Creators, and Makers
Your work brings color, confidence, expression, and artistry into this community. You help people feel at home in their bodies, in their identities, and in their stories. The passion and creativity you pour into your craft makes our community brighter, safer, and more connected. You are so important, and so deeply appreciated.
These are the places and people that keep me going, inspire me, and brighten my week. Their presence in our community is deeply felt.
So today, and every day, remember:
Small choices build strong communities.
Thanks for choosing me, my practice, and the small businesses that make this work possible.
Thanks for choosing small.
