Reggie has such a way with words. What a wonderful clinician!

Our very own Reginald Lemelle shares some words of encouragement:

Jessa Zimmerman's "S*xual Avoidance Cycle" is often one of the first things I dive into with clients experiencing issues s*xually. It can be so helpful for people to recognize their own intricate dance around confronting something as complex, nuanced, and challenging as their relationship with s*x. Spending time to develop an understanding for each piece of the cycle often allows for self-discovery and identification of pathways to behavior and thought changes. Zimmerman's book, "S*x Without Stress" has been invaluable, and I cannot recommend it enough! Sison, says, "Check it out!"

When you were young, a parent or caretaker at some point probably asked "who do you want to be when you grow up?" You may have said you wanted to be an athlete, an author, an astronaut, or an artist. Maybe you wanted to grow up to be just like someone you admire like a teacher or something playful like a favorite cartoon character.

Whatever the answer was then, has it changed now? And have you shared these dreams with your partner?

Set aside intentional time to answer these questions about who you'd like to become to connect your partner to your inner world.

When you and your partner are ready to work through this exercise, choose a time when you are both feeling relaxed and can be uninterrupted. Put away distractions like your phone. You may find it helpful to write your responses down first before sharing them out loud with one another.⁠

While this exercise should inspire conversation, it can be long, complex, and requires deep empathy and listening. For some, these questions may be best explored with the help of a professional.⁠

Take your time, revisit these prompts as needed, and come back to them another time if you're feeling overwhelmed.
