1. Fear and suspense horror.
2. Supernatural or paranormal horror.
3. Psychological horror movies.

While opinions undoubtedly will vary, AI lists the seven most popular horror movies as The Exorcist, The Shining, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Psycho, Alien, Rosemary’s Baby and Halloween. What’s your scary favorite?

If you’ve ever scrolled through photos of “the inspiration cake” versus the “here’s how it actually turned out cake” by amateurs, I think you’ll agree that there is a great deal of skill involved in cake decorating. Professional cake decorators turn what started as mere cake and frosting into edible art! They may use different types of frostings to perform different functions. The most popular is butter cream frosting but don’t forget cream cheese frosting, whipped cream frosting, fondant, cooked frosting (meringue), ganache, and royal icing. No matter how you frost it, serve me up a slice please!

If you missed our “Ask the Director” session on Tuesday, don’t worry. We will be doing it again in a few months. This laidback information gathering began with a brief tour of our Menke facility, including our beautiful chapel. Everyone got to meet the staff and pick up goodies along the way. The tour culminated in our Reception Hall where the Menke staff held an question and answer panel session (with more treats). This casual, no pressure format provided the opportunity for attendees to get answers to the questions that THEY wanted to know — from the scattering of ashes or renting a casket to transferring their prepaid plan. Thank you again to all who attended.

The fourth Monday of September has been designated National Family Day which encourages families to gather around the kitchen table and share a meal together.

National Family Day was started in 2001 by the National Center on Addiction as a way to combat substance abuse among teens. Their research showed that teens who ate meals with their families were less likely to fall into substance abuse. They also tended to do better in school and eat healthier.

Today as you bite into that white chocolate-macadamia nut cookie, you might want to give a moment’s thought about this nut with the rich, buttery flavor. But whatever you’re thinking, don’t share a bite of it with your canine friend. Macadamia nuts are toxic to dogs!

Macadamia nuts are one of the most expensive nuts in the world. It can take up to ten years for the trees to produce their first crop. However, once mature they are capable of producing nuts for over a century.

It was in the 19th century that macadamia nuts were introduced to European settlers by the indigenous people of Australia. Named after John Macadam, these nuts found their way to Hawaii in the 1880s.

Hawaii was the world’s largest producer of macadamia nuts for more than a century. Since the 2010s, South Africa has taken over the title of largest macadamia producer.
