"It's never too late to be who you might have been." You deserve to feel good about yourself and have a life that is satisfying and meaningful. Whether you are feeling down about yourself, experiencing anxiety, having difficulty coping with recent or past events, having problems in relationships or on the job, hurting yourself or making choices you later regret, I can help you attain a life worth living. I take a non-judgmental, relational approach to working with individuals, couples and families, helping you reach your own individual goals. I work on a sliding scale, charging only what you can afford to pay. In addition, I have particular expertise in crisis and trauma. If you have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event, recently or as long ago as infancy, you may experience symptoms that are hard to cope with and understand. I offer EMDR, a powerful treatment for the effects of trauma and negative life experiences. I bring to my practice 20 years of work in education and 10 in crisis intervention. I enjoy working with all types of clients and pride myself in a culturally competent and LGBTQ-affirming practice. I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Care Network, Aetna, Priority Health, Medicare and Blue Cross Complete insurance. Please call so we can start your journey together.

If you live in Michigan, and particularly if you live in Michigan and have children and/or work in schools, the news from Oxford High is going to hit you a different kind of way. That's because it checks more boxes in our "it could have been me" list, even subconsciously.

Please be deliberate about your self-care right now. Take an extra deep breath. Smell or taste something lovely. Enjoy a hug. Talk to other people about it. Consume news in moderation -- every new update is not necessary, you can read the summaries as things happen. Don't be mad at yourself or even alarmed if you notice trouble sleeping, weird appetite, etc. That's all your system assimilating the news. And steer clear of alcohol and drugs for now -- they're not going to make things better and they'll slow the recovery.

The change will allow millions of people with mental health conditions to get booster shots.

This is my biggest hurdle to overcome as you can face immense opposition when you make the decision to want more. Moving differently from my family took internal work for me first as my trauma presented itself as weak boundaries and people pleasing.

When my son was born, I knew there had to be more so I made goals for his childhood. I want to ensure that he:

❤️ Understands what happiness truly is
❤️ Doesn’t need twenty years of counseling to heal from his childhood
❤️ Can never say anything along the lines of ‘I got it out the mud’

Why? If trauma can be inherited and passed from one generation to another via our DNA, then why can’t healing?
