There may be community transmission of measles in our area.
Because of this, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is recommending that local infants ages 6 to 11 months old get an early MMR dose.
➡️ Measles can be dangerous, especially for young children. The MMR vaccine prevents measles and protects our community from further spread.
This early dose is recommended for infants 6 to 11 months old who live in Washtenaw, Monroe, Wayne, Oakland, Jackson, Livingston, or Lenawee counties, as well as infants who spend time in Washtenaw and Monroe counties.
This early dose does not count toward the routine two-dose series. Infants who get an early dose will still require doses at 12-15 months and 4-6 years per the standard schedule. This recommendation is currently in effect through May 16.
