One small tweak could change how you fuel your workouts
and my favorite way to make it happen.....

Do you think about how you fuel your workouts?

Maybe not. That's ok. 🤗

But if you DO, then you know that this can make a huge difference in your energy levels, strength gains and recovery! Last week I mentioned how not eating right can cause you to feel more sore after your workouts. How well you recover and how you perform is related to many things but a lot of it is how you eat!

Finding your balance of carbs, protein, and fats is worth experimenting with and seeing where your sweet spot is. Then once you find it, Try creating a bowl with the perfect proportions. I know you'll find this is magic!

If you make a salad and there are no healthy carbohydrates in it then you may find it wasn't filling and satisfying. If you have a bowl with all carbs and not enough protein then you may find you are hungry again in 30 minutes after eating.

Bowls make it easy. Especially bowls where you are using leftovers! Here are few of my favorites if you want to check them out. Also some ideas for how to put them together so they are tasty and satisfying.

Group fitness classes aren’t just about burning calories—they’re about connection, community, and rediscovering joy in movement. Since 2016, we've built a vibrant fitness community—especially for women over 30—where fun, movement, and meaningful connection go hand-in-hand. With over 60 weekly classes, we offer a wide range of options to fit real lives and bodies, from Athletic Conditioning and Level 2 Bounce to Aging Well and Balance Strength & Stretch.

"Smoky Summer Squash Bowl"

I’m all about this smoky and filling bowl!
It also comes together super quick.

I use leftover chicken thighs. This is a weekly ritual I have. I always at some point make a big batch of grilled chicken. I use basic flavoring like salt and garlic and pepper so I can create endless variations on bowls, tacos, and salads through the week!

Thank you to Brooke, our massage therapist and Barb, a mixer who gave me fresh veggies from their garden!

Check out the recipe...
Ingredients:
Leftover Grilled Chicken Thighs
1 Medium Yellow or Green Summer Squash
1/4-1/2 Red Onion
Uncle Ben’s Ready Rice: Spanish Style
Tomatoes – Cherry or other!
Salt
1 tsp Smoked Paprika
1 tsp Basil
1 tsp Cumin
Pepper

Directions:
Sautè the squash and onion and salt until just tender
Add the spices; paprika, basil, cumin and stir
Cook the ready rice in the microwave.
Add the chopped chicken thighs and stir to warm up the chicken.
Put the veggie and chicken medley in a bowl
Add the rice to the bowl on the side of the medley.
Drizzle with a little ranch or hot sauce or both.

*Ideas: you could add fresh parsley or cilantro. Could add spinach under it. Could add pepitas on top.

This journey will begin with a guided meditation and gentle yoga poses then be followed by a sound healing featuring singing bowls , shakers and tuning forks.
