Does insurance cover hearing aids?

Here’s what you need to know:
- Diagnostic evaluations are usually covered if a physician or doctor orders them to diagnose or treat a medical condition.
- However, most health insurance companies do not cover hearing aids.
- Medicare does not cover hearing aids for adults, but it does cover a bone anchored hearing aid (BAHA), since it’s considered a prosthetic device.
- For children and young adults under 21, Medicaid and some state programs like EPSDT or SCHIP may cover hearing loss treatment, including hearing aids.

If you’re worried about cost, you’re not alone - and we’re here to help.
