With the news of PCOS finally moving to Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS). Traditional Chinese has been ahead of the game for much longer in women’s health. Often finding the connection to Kidneys and Dampness instead of locking in on just the ovaries. Oftentimes, the Kidneys get overlooked with women and I’m here to tell you why they shouldn’t get overlooked.

While so many may look at specific symptoms, TCM looks farther and deeper at patterns without always needing a western diagnosis. What happens to so many is labs look “normal”, they may not present with typical symptoms, and instead are often dismissed.

That’s where Chinese Medicine thrives by asking the questions no one else is asking.

Happy month! I am fortunate to have come from a long line of Japanese, Okinawan and Hawaiian bloodlines. My mom did a wonderful job of making sure I never lost my culture or the foods that raised me. My goal everytime someone books or buys a Lunalei product they are reminded of the heritage of eastern medicine.

The privilege to practice did not come easy but was paved through centuries of work, education, and overcoming so that myself and others could run in this industry. My hope is that we never erase/waterdown the heritages that gave us these gifts and services.

So next time you drink that trendy Reishi mushroom coffee or take pics of the cupping marks on your back remember those that gave us access.

Orangevale, Folsom, and Sacramento I’m bringing some events closer to you in Orangevale!

June 20th: women’s health 101. This is open to all ages of women to learn about your cycles and hormonal health. Learn how nutrition, stress and environmental causes can disrupt your health.

July 18th: Reiki Level 1 certification course. Learn reiki for yourself and others while learning trauma informed techniques, business 101 and how to take Reiki to organizations in your area.

August 8th: sacred womb care. This one is for the mamas, mamas to be or those interested in learning to better support your womb including fertility.

Social media shows the glamorous easy highlight reel over here. Let’s show up a little more authentically 👋

Holistic medicine isn’t just sessions but it’s the showing up outside of that. Holistic is the care of the whole person. Which means allll of it (the griefs, the joys, the unknowns) and to me it’s a privilege to be trusted in whatever season that is.

This reel isn’t a poor me but a more authentic me. Last year for LunaLei I drove over 5000 miles just for business 👀 while still making sure I stay trained and up to date to be even better for clients. Holistic medicine is flashy and trendy right now with programs promising a new title or modality constantly. The word holistic is attached to everything now but there is so more behind the scenes of what holistic is.

I’ve learned over the years it’s those moments that’s not on social media, or in a session, but when you show up for the whole of a person’s being and journey. It’s the sciences of holistic medicine that is still standing when the flash and trends die down. It’s the ones standing when the work is too hard but you still keep going. It’s when many people may try to silence or redirect the lineage of herbal medicine but you will never erase us 🙂‍↔️ that’s the true holistic medicine.
