We look forward to serving the Morongo Valley community! ⛑️

At Thursday night’s rescheduled Morongo Valley Community Services District meeting, board members considered a no-cost proposal to transform a long-unused fire station into a hub for wildfire safety. The Fire Safe Council proposes a new Fire Safe Center at Fire Station #2, located at the bottom o

FIRE WATCH IN EFFECT – SATURDAY, MAY 17 THROUGH EARLY SUNDAY, MAY 18, 2025

Strong southwest winds and critically low humidity are creating dangerous fire weather conditions across the Desert Regions. Wind gusts could reach up to 65 mph and are expected to continue through the early morning hours of Sunday.

Please:
• Avoid any outdoor burning
• Secure or bring in loose outdoor items
• Use extreme caution with vehicles, tools, or equipment that can spark
• Report smoke or fire immediately by calling 911

This Fire Watch covers the Desert Regions of the greater Morongo Basin, Apple and Lucerne Valleys, and San Gorgonio Pass near Banning.

Let’s stay alert and help prevent wildfires.

The 6th Annual Community Preparedness Event ‘Help Yourself Help Your Neighbor’ was one for the books!

Free resources, hands-on demos, safety tips, and a whole lot of community spirit—MB COAD & HDEAA brought the Morongo Basin together to get ready and stay ready.

Huge thanks to all our first responders, volunteers, and families who showed up to support, learn, and connect.

We recently proposed transforming the vacant Morongo Valley Fire Station #2 into a local Fire Safe facility — a hub for wildfire prevention, safety resources, and community resilience.

We’re excited about the possibilities for this gateway community to the Morongo Basin. Stay tuned for next steps!

With multiple items added to the initially short agenda, the meeting began with a visit from Justin Merino of the Inland Empire Fire Safe Alliance, who presented Morongo Valley Fire Department and Fire Chief McEachen respective awards “in appreciation of the continued support of fire safe councils...

🔥 Celebrating 25 years of wildfire resilience and community partnerships, the Inland Empire Fire Safe Alliance proudly recognizes the Morongo Valley Fire Department CSD and Chief Ryan for their outstanding service and leadership. 🚒

From boots on the ground to Fire Safe outreach, MVFD has been vital in protecting the gateway to the Morongo Basin—setting the bar for collaboration, dedication, and impact.

👏 Thank you, Chief Ryan and the entire MVFD team, for being a cornerstone in our region’s fire preparedness efforts.

Here’s to the next 25 years—stronger, safer, and more united than ever. 💪

Honored to present awards to incredible organizations and individuals dedicated to fire safety in San Bernardino and Riverside counties at the Inland Empire Fire Safe Alliance 25th Anniversary Awards.

The real privilege is working alongside such passionate advocates who make our communities safer every day.

I was also genuinely surprised and humbled to receive acknowledgments —one recognizing the work our office does in the Desert Region, and two for my efforts in fire safety, prevention, and education across the Inland Empire. Grateful for the recognition and even more so for the opportunity to serve.

In service,
Justin
