Brought back to life through vision, community grit, and a lot of hands-on work by the Desert Region Fire Safe team.

Grateful to Morongo Valley CSD & FD, CAL FIRE San Bernardino/Inyo/Mono Unit, Assemblymember Greg Wallis, and friends for standing with us at the ribbon-cutting.

On Friday October 24th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Justin Merino will teach simple skills in this free, condensed workshop.

“…we’re going to be teaching hands-on CPR, which anyone can do. You don’t need a certification for that. And then we’re going to be teaching what Wilderness First Aid is. And folks might be curious, what is the wilderness? Lots of times people think of the forested area. They think of Big Bear as the wilderness. They think of lakes and green trees, but we are in the wilderness here.

In terms of medicine, Wilderness First Aid is going to be your response time and how you approach a situation. So if we’re looking at a response time from definitive care, meaning getting to a hospital, an ambulance, we’re looking at an hour to two days.”

Morongo Basin Sheriff's Station for National Night Out — connecting with neighbors, building trust, and sharing lifesaving skills Walmart Yucca Valley!

🚒 Desert Region Fire Safe was out in full force with:
✅ A Fire Prevention table packed with tips to protect your home and community
🧭 A Listos California booth helping residents get ready, set, prepared for any emergency
❤️‍🩹 And a American Red Cross Hands-Only CPR station where folks of all ages learned how to save a life in just minutes

Community resilience starts with knowledge — and nights like this remind us that preparedness is a team effort. 💪🌵

🌵 A heartfelt thank you to the Morongo Basin Community Organizations Active in Disasters (MBCOAD) and to Southern California Edison (SCE) for providing grant funds that made it possible to purchase a dual-fuel generator for our Fire Prevention & Disaster Center at the Morongo Valley Fire Department East Station.

The site will be reopening as a Fire Prevention Education Office and Disaster Community Center, with the Fire Safe Council based there.

This important upgrade strengthens our ability to serve the community during emergencies and disasters.
