We are recruiting Morongo Basin Community Health Center (CHC) patients to serve on the health center’s governing board.

If you’ve ever wanted to make a difference in local healthcare, this is your opportunity. Use your voice and ideas as a champion for healthcare in our Basin. Board members provide oversight for the health center’s patient experience. After all, there’s nothing like personal experience to give an accurate perspective on how we deliver patient care.

They meet monthly for one hour in Yucca Valley to receive reports from staff, weigh in on policies, and offer insight on patient care. This is a non-paid position. Applications are available at the health center in 29 Palms and Yucca Valley, and may be downloaded from our website at www.MorongoBasinHealth.org.

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month.

Mental health influences daily life, relationships, physical health, and is more than the absence of mental disorders. Mental health is the ability to manage stress, maintain resilience, and enjoy life.

Adverse childhood experiences, chronic stress, social isolation, and brain injury are some of the broad areas that can negatively influence mental health. Chronic stress can increase stress and worsen existing mental health conditions.

Caring for yourself matters. Mental health conditions can affect anyone. For professional support to help sort through concerns, begin with a primary health provider who can offer directions on how to connect with available services.

Mental Health Awareness Month promotes open conversation about mental illness and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health conditions. Join the conversation. Mental health touches every part of our life. Make it your best life. Take care of your mental health!

Enjoy free health screenings, connect with local businesses and agencies, and discover resources to help you manage your health. Meet healthcare providers and explore tools for better health. The Town’s Youth Commission will host a fun zone with games and activities for kids.

Medi-Cal renewal packets are being sent to subscribers based on the date when the subscriber first began to receive benefits. Approximately 45 days prior to the renewal due date, a letter is sent by Medi-Cal alerting the subscriber that the packet is on the way and to keep a look-out for it. If the packet is not received, the subscriber can log on to their BenefitsCal.com account and print out the renewal packet or visit the local TAD office to pick up a packet.

Morongo Basin Healthcare District's community health workers are available to help subscribers complete their renewal packet. The subscriber must provide the packet; our staff cannot retrieve the renewal packet for the subscriber.

There is no fee for staff assistance, but an appointment is required. Call 760-365-9305 extension 1546 to make an appointment for free assistance. This assistance is provided by Morongo Basin Healthcare District as part of our mission to improve the health and wellness of Basin residents.
