Hot flashes and night sweats? They’re often triggered by a drop in estrogen levels. When your brain is used to higher estrogen, the sudden dip can cause it to release norepinephrine—a stress hormone that disrupts your body’s temperature regulation. The good news? Progesterone can help ease these symptoms.

“Epistaxis” is the medical term for a nosebleed. While often not serious, nosebleeds are common due to the many tiny blood vessels in the nose that can easily break from dryness, irritation, or injury.

About 60% of people will experience a nosebleed at some point, with kids, older adults, pregnant individuals, and those on blood thinners or with clotting disorders being more prone.

If nosebleeds are frequent or concerning, we’re here to help. Drop in for a consultation!

As you age, your hormone levels naturally shift, often leading to imbalances that affect everything from mood to metabolism. In women, fluctuating estrogen can cause a variety of symptoms, while men may experience changes due to lower testosterone. Other hormones—like those from your thyroid or adrenal glands—also play a role in your overall health.

Christy Wilcox, PA-C, offers personalized therapies for hormone balance, weight loss, nutrition, and intimate wellness for both men and women.

🌙 Prioritize Your Sleep for Better Health 🌙

Remember when your doctor or parent said, "A good night's sleep can make everything better"? They were right! Many of us don't get the recommended amount of sleep, which varies by age:

6-12 year olds: 9-12 hours
Teens: 8-10 hours
Adults: 7+ hours
Over 60: Close to 9 hours
Factors like long work hours, distractions, caffeine, and screen time can impact our sleep.

A recent study published in "Hypertension" highlighted the negative effects of sleep deprivation on heart health. It found that sleep-deprived individuals had increased blood pressure, impaired endothelial function, and elevated norepinephrine levels. Women, in particular, showed a significant increase in blood pressure with poor sleep.

These findings emphasize the importance of adequate sleep for overall health. So, make sleep a priority and enjoy the benefits of better heart health and overall well-being. 🛌💤
