Spanish Cove Shines at Chill Your Cheeks!

Spanish Cove residents bundled up and headed out for the annual Chill Your Cheeks Yukon Christmas in the Park last night, a tradition we look forward to every single year!

Several of our energetic residents took on the 5K run, while others enjoyed the cheerful one-mile walk.

Between the festive Christmas lights, carnival treats like caramel apples, holiday outfits, and glow-up accessories, the night was full of laughter, exercise, and pure Christmas joy!

After all the fun (and maybe a few chilly noses!), everyone returned to Spanish Cove for a warm and delicious chili supper prepared by our amazing Dietary Department.

It was truly a night to remember, full of community, joy, and holiday sparkle.

We love that our residents get to enjoy this wonderful event year after year!

Today we are re-sharing a video that was created several years ago during one of our annual Veterans Programs here at Spanish Cove. This video features several of our World War II veterans who called Spanish Cove home.

Some of the veterans in this video have since passed on, but they are certainly not forgotten. We are deeply thankful for each of them, and for those who are still here with us, for sharing their stories and allowing us to preserve this piece of history.

We felt today was the perfect day to share this video again in their honor.

Thank you to all veterans—past, present, and those who continue to serve. We are grateful for your sacrifice and service.

Honoring Our Veterans Today

Today, we pause with gratitude in our hearts to honor the men and women who have served our country.

At Spanish Cove, we are blessed to have veterans living among us who have shown courage, strength, and a deep love for our nation. Their stories echo through our halls and continue to inspire us every day.

To all who have served, and to the families who have stood beside them, thank you. Your sacrifice has shaped our freedom and strengthened our community.

If you see one of our veterans today, take a moment to shake a hand, listen to a story, or simply say, "Thank you."

We are proud to call you part of the Spanish Cove family.

At Spanish Cove, we are truly blessed by a community where kindness runs deep and gratitude is lived out in action. This week, our residents held their annual Craft Fair Fundraiser to raise money for the upcoming Employee Appreciation Luncheon in December.

Each year, the residents pour their hearts into creating homemade baked goods, hand-sewn quilts and blankets, seasonal crafts, and so many one-of-a-kind treasures. Every cookie baked, every stitch sewn, every craft carefully made is done with a purpose: to show appreciation for the staff who care for them all year long.

In December, our residents will gather again, this time to serve our staff. They’ll host the Employee Appreciation Luncheon, complete with Chick-fil-A, homemade sides and desserts, heartfelt fellowship, gift baskets, and end-of-year bonus checks. It’s a day filled with laughter, gratitude, and a reminder that at Spanish Cove, we are truly family.

To our residents:
Thank you for your generosity. Your thoughtfulness and hard work reflect the warmth and love that make this community so special.

To our staff:
You are seen. You are valued. And you make a difference every single day.

Spanish Cove is more than a place to live. It is a place to belong.
And today, we celebrate that.

We’ve been out exploring and making memories at Spanish Cove.

Our group enjoyed a trip to El Reno where we toured the Historical Museum and took a trolley ride around town. It was a meaningful and enjoyable time shared with great company.

Our Mystery Trip was also very special. We visited the Clarence E. Page Airport in Yukon for a private museum tour and discovered a meaningful connection close to home.

Lois Lawson, a Pavilion resident here at Spanish Cove, once served as a stewardess and even had a hangar at this airport. Several of the stewardess uniforms and photographs displayed in the museum were hers, items she previously owned and donated. Seeing her story remembered in this way made the experience especially meaningful.

We enjoyed the history, the fellowship, and the shared memories.
