If only they knew they could birth their baby at home, get cleaned up, and end the night with "Well? Wanna order chinese?" Like it was any other Friday night...

Most Dad's I meet are adamant about having his son circumcised. For some, with a little gentle education, they might change their minds. For the rest, they go through with the procedure and see for themselves how bad it really is. No father comes out proud of that choice. They then have to stuff that guilt down forever.

Upside to homebirth is that the procedure isn't done the next day like in the hospital. You'll need to find a pediatric urologist and have it done in their office. Most families who plan to go this route end up seeing how easy/normal it is to care for their intact son before they make that appointment. They see there isn't 💩stuck in there (because it's still fused..it's literally just a peehole and there isn't an open wound you have to blot off blood with gauze when youre insteucted to literally keep opening it up, preventing it from growing back) Months go by and "aw shucks, I forgot to call 🤷‍♀️..oh well he seems fine without it." 🙆‍♀️👶💁‍♂️ Then the kid is like 4 the next time it's brought up and it's decided it's too late. 👍

"It was my idea to use fMRI and/or PET scanning to directly observe the effects of circumcision on the infant brain.

Analysis of the MRI data indicated that the surgery subjected the infant to significant trauma. The greatest changes occurred in the limbic system concentrating in the amygdala and in the frontal and temporal lobes.

A neurologist who saw the results postulated that the data indicated that affected most intensely the portions of the victim’s brain associated with reasoning, perception, and emotions.

Follow-up tests on the infant one day, one week and one month after the surgery indicated that the child’s brain never returned to its baseline configuration. In other words, the evidence generated by this research indicated that the brain of the circumcised infant was permanently changed by the surgery." — Paul D. Tinari, PhD

Virtual Support🤳

Here's a few screen shots of what virtual labor support can look like!

With this client, she hired me rather early, so we had months of communication and were able to build a trusting friendship and if anything ever came up, she had someone to turn to for support. When labor began, I was in communication with not only her but also her supportive mother and husband.

They utilized this service perfectly! We weren't texting non-stop, but they knew to reach out if they needed ideas or words of encouragement. They also knew the more information they shared with me, the better I could serve them. It was never "too much" as mom deserved all of the attention. Sharing various pictures and links helps a lot, too.

I LOVE creating binders for my virtual clients. I fill them useful information pertaining to their pregnancy and what could potentially be needed later on.

This particular client is big about informed consent and isn't afraid to speak up for herself, despite being a first timer! This binder helps to organize the knowledge she already knows, but is also an easily accessible rolodex, if you will, for her partner as well.

I've collected hand-outs from over the entire span of my career, and they never disappoint.

I also include pages I created myself like "BRAIN" explanation, Induction Tree, Helpful affirmations, position ideas, and more! All categorized and neat-looking. 👌

This client went in for her 41 week appointment/NST (and passed with flying colors!) but of course is being faced with the "induction talk". But have no fear! My client is fully prepared with the facts to help her make the best decisions for her and her babe.
