Whatever political party you belong to, whatever your thoughts on addicts, I encourage you to watch this. In 2019, Colorado legislature passed a bill that made it a “ticketed offense” to be in possession of 1-4 grams of ANY drug. You get a ticket if you are found to be in possession of 4grams or less of ANY drug. How much is 4 grams? 4 grams of fentanyl is about the size of a sugar packet. That small amount can kill 1500 people! This documentary should make you mad. It should scare you and it should make you think. What are we doing?!?!?

The start of the new school year can be an exciting time for both kids and parents. But once the excitement of the new clothes, new school supplies, and the new teachers wears off, kids are left with the realization that this is where they will spend their days for the next 9 or so months.

Have you ever had a bad day at work? Has your job ever frustrated you? Have you ever had a conflict with a coworker with whom you didn’t agree, didn’t particularly like, or who didn’t treat you well? Ever had a supervisor who expected more from you than you thought you could give? Children experience that as well. School is their “job.” Classmates are their “coworkers.” Teachers are their “supervisors.”

Sometimes kids come home with emotions that they don’t know how to express or manage. As parents, it is our job to be present for them and to let them dictate how they handle those emotions. Whether that means giving them space to talk or space to be silent, to spend time doing nothing in order to decompress, or to do a favorite activity to take their mind off of a long day. Children are constantly learning and adapting to life and school brings many challenges. The best thing parents can do is teach their children to be kind to others and to do their best each and every day, despite the struggles life throws at them.
