In our last post we shared that the week of the 18th-24th will include drawings, celebration and a couple of special pop-up classes to celebrate 9 Years of Grass Roots Studio!

~On Thursday the 23rd, will teach a Hot Power Vinyasa at 9:30am, and all participants will have the option to have a cold & fresh açaí bowl made by waiting on them after class! Anyone can be included in this pickup at 10:45am, even if you can’t attend class! So especially nice for any downtown business people too. We will share the dates and purchase link with you for the bowls a little closer to time!

~There’s also a Hot Vinyasa class on Friday the 24th at 5:00pm with ! What a fun happy-hour sweat to kick off your weekend 💦

We are going to celebrate 9 Years of Grass Roots Studio with a week-long stretch of fun opportunities to practice together, win prizes and maybe a few other surprises sprinkled in along the way!

*Saturday 4/18- Friday 4/24*

Each class you attend that week you’ll get entered into a drawing! There will be three winners~ two winners get a GR themed prize and one winner gets Unlimited Yoga for free the month of May!

*Remote Personal Training*

Dakota has had a full training schedule for a while, but he’s recently opened up a new way to work together!

It starts with a phone call to discuss goals, preferences, lifestyle and health history!

For $100 Dakota creates a month-long program for you to follow designed specifically for you and your goals. It might look like two lifts per week and a circuit. It could look like three lifts per week, or whatever best meets your needs. These could be workouts for the gym, or for equipment you have at home. You also receive videos for each exercise. All of this information will be located in your own app where you can track progress each week.

In addition to the monthly programming, there’s also an option to schedule an in-person session once per month (if your schedules can align) for greater accountability, form checks and motivation to keep getting stronger!

There’s nothing that replaces a professionally designed program, and the accountability and guidance from an experienced trainer. Tomorrow’s April 1st and the perfect time to get started on a healthier more intentional path.

What a special YTT weekend led by 🫶🏼

This weekend was designed to teach the students about a signature practice called Power Restore, which is a unique mixture of 5 Element Theory, Qi Gong, power yoga, vinyasa and restorative yoga. This practice is based on the principles of interval training- increases heart rate variability, facilitates vagal tone, encourages homeostasis within the body, and creates resilience within your autonomic nervous system.

With the official closing of the winter season, we reflected on where we’re feeling depleted and where we’re feeling alive and full. We completely torched our core (and whole body) with the power yoga part, and the students got to explore embracing the seat of the teacher for the first time!

It was a powerful, live-giving weekend, and the perfect way to welcome in spring 🌱

We now have a couple of months of workshops until the next immersion in June 💛

•Power Restore: To find balance on the inside and the outside, we need REST just as much as we need MOVEMENT. Drawing upon 5 Element Theory and the principles of interval training, this heart themed class creatively intertwines a strong vinyasa practice with deeply restorative modalities to increase heart rate variability, optimize vagal tone and encourage homeostasis within the body.

It allows the body to adeptly move between the sympathetic (fight or flight) and parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system in one comprehensive practice, and it facilitates our deep human potential for self-regulation and healing. It’s how we foster our resilience - physically, mentally, and emotionally.

•Myofascial Yin: In this class, we’ll combine myofascial release + yin yoga to reduce tension, improve mobility, and support recovery. Using therapy balls and targeted techniques, you’ll apply sustained pressure to help soften fascial restrictions, reduce chronic pain, ease muscular guarding, and restore healthier range of motion. We’ll then transition into longer-held, prop-supported yin shapes to downshift the nervous system, deepen breathing, and integrate the benefits throughout the whole body.

A powerful breath-guided session led by grief coach, Nicholette McClelland. Soma Iq (Somatic breathwork) is a guided, body-based practice that supports nervous system regulation and emotional wellbeing through conscious breathing. REGISTRATION DEADLINE~ January 2nd!

Our program is a mixture of in-person experiences at 4th and Market in Downtown Zanesville, Ohio, live calls on Zoom and self-guided recorded modules.

This training prepares people to teach full-length asana, or mat-focused, classes, but it’s also a beautiful supplemental training for anyone already working in the healthcare or wellness industry. Many people such as school teachers, coaches, nurses, counselors/social workers, massage therapists, and physical therapists have found great value in incorporating the teachings from this training into their work. There are no pre-requisites to sign up for this training, but we do recommend you attend some studio classes/virtual sessions prior to the training to prepare your body and mind. Some of our students desire to teach following the training, and some simply want to deepen their own personal practice and understanding of Yoga. A 200-Hour training is one of the most beautiful and transformational investments you can make on yourself, it’s truly life-changing.

Join us for a well-rounded New Year’s Day yoga practice with Rachel Matz to ring in the new year with intention and mindfulness. This experience will include journaling (bring your journal if you want), breath, meditation and flow. The room will be heated with infrared panels…usually gets to around 85-90 degrees-ish in the wintertime. All levels are welcome to join!

It’s almost that time for our annual New Year’s Challenge ✊🏼 by

This challenge is for teams of up to 4 people! You can sign up as an individual if you want and we will try to place you with a team. It lasts for eight weeks: January 4th- March 1st!

How to win~ you earn points a few different ways! There’s an overall individual winner with the highest points and a team winner with the highest points. This year we’ve also added a “Classes winner” and a “Gym winner” awarded to two (or could be one person who wins both categories) people who earn the most amount of points by attending classes and logging 4&M gym visits. Participants can earn 1 point per 4&M class attended, 1 point per 4&M gym session (on your own or with a trainer), 1 point per % of body weight lost, and 1 point per inch lost. There will be a few bonus point opportunities along the way as well!

*Individual winner gets $150 cash
*Each member of the winning team gets 4 Fit Labs with Dakota and a 2 month gym membership.
*”Gym winner” gets a one month free gym membership
*”Classes winner” gets 4 Fit Labs

When the challenge begins you will be emailed your workout plan and added to our private Facebook group where you will receive the how-to videos for each exercise. The classes at 4&M are paid for separately (Fit Labs- $100 for 10 or $12 per class. Yoga is a sliding-scale option paid online per class to register…you sign up for all classes ahead of time using the Momence app or our 4&M website). The workout plan will include three strength workouts, two cardio & core workouts, and an “athlete style” workout per week. Having gym access is recommended, but not required.

Working with a team adds a lot of connection and motivation to your workouts, and it’s an amazing way to begin the year with a consistent routine and supportive friends! Nothing extreme, just dedication and hard work for sustainable fitness and a longer, better life.
