Lawrence N. Dickinson, 81, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born in Zanesville on February 3, 1944, Lawrence was the son of the late Eugene and Gertrude Dickinson. He was preceded in death by his siblings Helen Walton, Eugene Dickinson, Ayleen Ray and Billy Dickinson.
Lawrence leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by his devoted wife Sue Dickinson; his children Shane Dickinson and his wife Sara, Travis Dickinson, Larry Dickinson and his wife Jacki, and Ryan Singer and his fiancé, Jordan; and his cherished grandchildren James Dickinson, Ella Dickinson—who shared his birthday—Chandler Long, Tyson Dickinson, Jacoby Dickinson, and Jett Dickinson. He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Dickinson and sisters-in-law Cynthia Martin, Jane Dickinson and Melody Dickinson. He is also remembered fondly by his many nieces and nephews.
A natural storyteller, Lawrence had a gift for conversation and was never happier than when surrounded by family and friends, reminiscing and sharing tales of times gone by. He was the epitome of a lovable man—warm, generous, and full of heart. His greatest joy was spending time with his sons and grandchildren, creating memories that will live on for generations.
Lawrence served in the United States Air Force from 1965-1969, stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska. He was employed for 44 years at Owens Brockway as a mold maker. In retirement, Lawrence and Sue fulfilled a longtime dream of living on the Muskingum River. There, he found peace and contentment in nature—fishing, boating, and sitting on the covered patio, taking in the view. An avid motorcycle enthusiast, Lawrence spent many years traveling cross-country on two wheels. In later years, he continued his passion aboard his beloved Honda Goldwing, often taking long-distance rides with Sue, including visits to see their grandchildren out of state.
Lawrence’s life was marked by a deep love for family, a spirit of adventure, and an infectious joy for life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
