Naomi Shields, born May 29, 1963, in Painesville, Ohio, later made her home in Zanesville, Ohio, where she spent most of her life caring for others and putting family before herself.

Naomi was the loving mother of Samantha Moyer Cee and Robert Shields "Toasty". Her children were her heart, and that love multiplied with the arrival of her seven grandchildren—Kaitlyne, Aubree, Aleighia, Kolton, Kamerynn, Gracie, and Bentley. Being a grandmother brought her immense pride and joy, and she cherished every moment she spent with them.

She was a devoted sister to Irene, Ramona, and Tonya, and a loving sister to her brother Everett. Family meant everything to Naomi, and she showed her love through actions more than words.

A hardworking and dependable woman, Naomi dedicated 20 years to Economy Linen and another 10 years to the Candle Factory. She believed in working hard and doing right by others, no matter the task.

When she wasn’t working, Naomi devoted much of her time to caring for her mother, Grace Murphy. She faithfully drove her to every store in Zanesville so Grace could walk up and down every aisle—despite the fact that anyone who knew Naomi knew one thing for sure: she hated shopping. Still, she never complained, because love always came first.

Naomi was truly a kind soul. She would give anyone anything she had, without hesitation and without expecting anything in return. Her generosity, compassion, and selflessness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Naomi was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Grace Murphy; her brother, Robert Reed; and her nephew, Justin Harris.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Naomi’s legacy lives on through the love she gave so freely and the lives she touched simply by being herself.

You may call on the family on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Burrell Funeral Services in Zanesville from 10am until 11am. Cremation will follow. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
