A little rain does not mean we can’t plant!

This 2nd grade class was ready to go outside to plant, but south Texas is getting a bit of rain ⛈️

Students were still able to learn to garden in an unusual location… a ZIPLOC BAG! 🌱they were able to plant Lima beans, which will be added to their school garden in the near future!🪴

Look at what these second graders are doing over Villarreal Elementary! They are learning about parts of a plant before they start planting in their school garden! 🌱🌱

They participated in a game to see who could put the parts of plant label correctly on their strawberry or pepper plant the fastest! 🌱

These are some activities that youth participate and learn during the program of Learn, Grow, Eat, & Go!🌱

Better Living for Texans

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension’s Better Living for Texans (BLT) program offers a variety of research-based, nutrition education programs and information to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants and program eligible persons in over 200 counties in the State of Texas. The aim is to help to low-income Texans of all ages increase their fruit and vegetable consumption, become more physically active, stretch their monthly food dollars, and learn to prepare quick, nutritious meals.
