Most people think “healthy breakfast” means oatmeal, cereal, toast, or fruit smoothies… but many of those spike blood sugar fast and leave you hungry again within hours.

This morning’s breakfast was simple, balanced, and high in protein 👌

🍳 Scrambled eggs with salsa verde
🥓 Ham
🌮 Corn tortillas
☕ Black coffee

Estimated macros:
✅ Protein: ~30g
✅ Carbs: ~25g
✅ Fat: ~20g
✅ Calories: ~450

Why protein matters in the morning:
✔ Helps keep you full longer
✔ Supports muscle maintenance
✔ Helps reduce cravings later in the day
✔ Can improve blood sugar stability

Could this meal be improved? Absolutely.
Adding fiber like avocado, fruit, beans, or vegetables would make it even better nutritionally.

But overall, this is still a much better option than a sugary breakfast loaded with refined carbs.

Small consistent changes matter more than “perfect” eating.

If your joints have been aching every time a storm rolls in, your body is trying to tell you something. We’re in clinic TODAY — comment “PAIN” below or send us a message to schedule your appointment. Simple Sunday. Grilled chicken for the week.
I want to share something I tell patients all the time — because I think it reframes healthy eating in a way that actually sticks.
The reason most people with diabetes, high blood pressure, or chronic fatigue struggle to eat well consistently isn’t discipline. It’s decision fatigue.
By Tuesday evening, after a full day of managing symptoms, work, family, and everything else — you have almost nothing left in the tank for a healthy food decision. Whatever is fastest wins. And whatever is fastest is almost never what your body needs.
The solution isn’t more willpower. It’s fewer decisions.
Grilled chicken prepped on Sunday means that at 7pm Tuesday when your energy is at its lowest — the decision is already made. You reach in the fridge and the right choice is just there.
Clinically it also delivers:
✦ High protein that stabilizes blood sugar and reduces post-meal glucose spikes
✦ Leucine and amino acids that build and preserve lean muscle — which directly improves insulin sensitivity over time
✦ A sodium-free protein when seasoned with herbs, garlic, lemon, and spices
✦ Benefits that apply across diabetes, hypertension, weight management, and fatigue
You don’t need a perfect meal plan. You need protein in your fridge.
Start there.

Your A1c won’t improve from one healthy meal.
It reflects your average blood sugar over the last ~3 months — so the small daily habits matter more than the “healthy lunch” you had today.

A few things that quietly keep A1c elevated👇

• Sugary drinks “here and there”
• Liquid calories from sweet tea, soda, energy drinks, fancy coffees
• Large portions of rice, potatoes, tortillas, pasta, chips
• Constant snacking, especially late at night
• Not enough protein or fiber with meals
• Poor sleep + high stress
• Sitting all day with little movement after eating

Simple changes that actually help:
✔️ Water or zero sugar drinks
✔️ Walk 10-15 min after meals
✔️ Prioritize protein first
✔️ More vegetables and fiber
✔️ Smaller starch portions
✔️ Consistency > perfection

Your body responds to what you do MOST days — not occasionally.

If you or someone you love manages diabetes, I want to share something this morning that takes 5 minutes and has solid clinical evidence behind it.

Research shows that gentle movement in the first 30 minutes after waking activates a glucose uptake pathway in your muscles that works independently of insulin. For people with insulin resistance or Type 2 diabetes, this matters enormously.

In practical terms: 5 minutes of light movement after waking can lower fasting blood sugar by up to 20 points.

In the video I walk through the exact 3-movement sequence I recommend to my patients:
✦ March in place — 30 seconds
✦ Slow standing squats — 10 reps
✦ Calf raises — 20 reps

No equipment. No gym. Before your first meal.

Try it every morning for 2 weeks — then come back and tell me what your numbers are doing.

I don't talk about this often-but I think it's time.

There was a week not that long ago where I seriously considered walking away. Not from a patient. Not from a bad day. From everything I had spent years building.

Not because I failed. Because I was running on empty and the culture I'd trained in had never once told me that was allowed to happen to us too.

We spend our careers telling patients to listen to their bodies. To rest when they're exhausted. To treat the root cause, not just the symptom. And then we go home and ignore every signal our own bodies send us.

Burnout isn't a weakness. It's a physiological event-cortisol dysregulation, adrenal depletion, nervous system overload. And when I finally stopped pushing through it and started treating it the same way I'd treat a patient, things shifted.

I'm sharing this because I know I'm not the only one who's been there.

Has something like this tested you? You don't have to share details-just drop a 🤍 so I know I'm not talking to an empty room.

Something I share with almost every new patient — because it changes how they think about what's in their grocery cart.

For years I watched people spend hundreds of dollars a month on supplements trying to manage arthritis, blood pressure, blood sugar, or fatigue. Many were seeing minimal results.

The truth? The foundation isn't in a bottle. It's in the grocery store.

A handful of specific, affordable, research-backed foods can address all four of those conditions simultaneously — by targeting the root cause they share: chronic inflammation.

I put together the exact 10-item list I share with my patients. Nothing fancy. Nothing that requires a specialty store or a wellness budget.

✦ Salmon · Blueberries · Leafy Greens · Turmeric
✦ Olive Oil · Walnuts · Broccoli · Ginger
✦ Black Beans · Green Tea

I filmed this on my morning walk today because I wanted to share something with you that I genuinely believe is one of the most underutilized tools for energy — and it's completely free.

Here's what I see in my clinic every week: patients who are completely exhausted when they wake up, drag through the day on caffeine, and then feel their most alert right around 9 or 10pm. They can't fall asleep, can't wake up, and nobody has told them why.

The answer, in most cases, is a flipped cortisol curve.

Cortisol is your primary energy hormone. It's supposed to be at its highest in the first hour after waking — that's what gets you out of bed with energy. Then it gradually drops throughout the day so you can wind down and sleep.

When that curve is reversed, everything feels backwards.

The single most effective, evidence-based, zero-cost intervention to start correcting it: get outside within 30 minutes of waking and move. Morning light hitting your eyes and your muscles activating sends a direct signal to your brain's circadian clock to produce cortisol at the right time.

Even 10 minutes. It doesn't need to be a workout.

I do 20 minutes every morning. It has changed my energy more than anything else I've tried.

If you're struggling with fatigue and you've been told everything looks normal — drop a comment below. I'd love to hear what you're experiencing, and I'll point you toward where to start.

Has this ever happened to you?

You sleep a full 8 or 9 hours and wake up just as exhausted — sometimes more — than when you went to bed. You go to the doctor. Basic bloodwork. "Everything looks fine." And you walk out wondering if it's all in your head.

It's not.

In my years as a nurse practitioner at Elite Med Clinic, this is one of the patterns I see most often — and it almost always comes down to root causes that standard labs simply don't test for:

✦ Adrenal function
✦ Thyroid nuances beyond basic TSH
✦ Chronic low-grade inflammation
✦ Blood sugar instability overnight

You are not lazy. You are not dramatic. Your body is sending a very real signal.

Drop a 😴 if this is your life — and comment "TIRED" and I'll send you my free Energy Root-Cause Checklist. Let's figure this out together.
