Today marks ten years of Sisson Counseling Services. When I first opened SCS, I dreamed that it would one day be a full time job where I could help support clients while they worked to heal themselves. I could never had imagined where it would bring me years later. When I think back over how many people have trusted me with their hardest and sometimes darkest moments, it brings me to tears. If there’s one thing I’ve learned during my time as a therapist, it’s that people are really, really good and life is really, really hard. I suppose that’s actually two things. Still, I stand by both statements. I do not say this lightly. Next to loving my family, it is my highest honor to have the privilege to walk with clients through their life experiences. I will never take this privilege for granted. I am proud of us. Not just me. I’m proud of all of the clients that have realized that they are worth the hard work of healing. Thank you for trusting me. Here’s to the next ten years!

There are several things that I’ve been consistently passionate about throughout life. One of these things is rural communities. I want them to thrive in any and every way possible. I love the feel. I love the slow pace of life. I love the people. Another thing is learning and (in my adult life) reading. When I realized that the closest library that the residents of our small town can utilize is 30+ miles away, I wanted to change that. I talked to my husband and several people in town. All agreed a lending library would be an amazing addition to our town for the kids AND adults.

Without the help of many people and the Zeeland Lions Club allowing us to place it in their park, this would not be possible. A huge thank you to ZLC. A special thank you to my husband, my father in law, my mother in law, and Jeanne. All of whom either physically helped or made connections with the right people to make this possible. Even if you aren’t in Zeeland, please share and/or like to help spread the word. We need help notifying the residents of Zeeland and the surrounding area of this new opportunity!

We’ve added several children’s books and a few adult books too. More will be added shortly. Some regional authors included. Please add your own and take whatever you would like to read. Some people have asked about utilizing it to share DVDs too. By all means, absolutely! We hope the community will find many ways to use the lending library throughout the years.
