As a busy mom of 3 kids.... I obviously want them to grow up to be charming, kind, loving young adults. But there is one thing I really want them to be as a kid.

And that is… capable.

You see, a capable kid is a child that is capable of doing mundane life tasks at an appropriate age. Sounds simple, but many parents don’t instill this into their kids.

Like helping with meal prep, sorting the lights from the darks, or wiping down the counters.

There is a huge list of tasks we take care of as adults every day, inside and outside the home.

Let's face it though, how many times have you heard of a high school graduate going off to college who has never touched a washer? Or actually cooked a meal for themselves?

So, I believe if I start them young by helping consistently with these easy daily tasks, they will grow up to be capable young adults, who see a task that needs to be done and do it. Even if they are unsure of the task at hand.

For example, my 2 older kids help unload the dishwasher and vacuum. I even had to buy another one because they fight over it! Setting the table is always a fight over who gets to do it. Even my two-year-old can set the table.

They know I do laundry on Wednesdays and Fridays, so they bring their dirty clothes to the laundry room, and put their clean clothes away.

So here's to raising capable kids. Kids who will grow up to be teenagers who can take care of life's mundane tasks themselves and serve others around them while they are at it!

I’ll be honest, I’ve never been great with needles. For years, giving blood felt completely out of the question.

But as I’ve gotten older and after having three kids, I’ve learned that I can do hard things. So I finally faced that fear and crossed donating blood off my bucket list.

Over the holidays, I had a client who wasn’t returning my calls, which was so unlike him. When he finally reached out two weeks later, he shared that he had been diagnosed with cancer and had needed multiple blood transfusions just to stay alive.

Hearing that changed everything for me.

Knowing that donated blood was the reason he is still here made it deeply personal. I gave blood in his honor, with a full heart and overwhelming gratitude for the people who donate.

Because of those donations, he is still living.

Here’s the truth: most people already know a real estate agent.

I helped so many families find their dream homes this year. Here's what that really means...

Children got a new living room to play with their toys in.

Dogs have a new paradise of a backyard to run around in.

Cats are climbing the freshly put-up Christmas tree (and probably breaking a few ornaments while they're at it).

Moms are decorating their garlands in a new spot this year.

I absolutely love helping families turn houses into homes. I will never get over how emotional it can be to hand a set of keys to someone across the closing table and watch their smile grow larger.
