This special group of retired nurses is finding connection and purpose in community during their regular meetings. Earlier this week the Frederick Living residents met for a breakfast gathering where they shared stories from their careers in the nursing field. They are currently working on compiling a notebook highlighting each member, their education and selected photographs.

The Upper Perkiomen Valley High School Uptones have it right - the Christmas season is here! The group performed here today for the annual Upper Perkiomen Valley Chamber of Commerce Christmas breakfast. The group of young musicians stayed on for a second performance, thrilling residents and setting the mood for the holiday season.

You can catch the holiday spirit as well, when you attend our Christmas Village and Artisan Market, this Saturday, Dec. 6th from 10 am to 2 pm. There will be cookie decorating, crafts, hot cocoa and Santa for the kids and a craft fair for everyone. We can't wait to see you there.

Today's Veteran's Day program honored the many veterans in the Frederick Living community who served our country. State Representative Donna Scheuren provided citations of recognition to the 53 veterans who served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, National Guard and the Coast Guard. Nine veterans who passed away during 2025 were also remembered.

A collection of photos and memorabilia is on display this week near the Oaktree Center Bistro.

Thank you to all the veterans who have faithfully served our country!

For the last two days our Travel with Purpose team has been split into two groups, with one team going on a 1 day safari while the other group prepped and began a second round of VBS. The safari team loved seeing the beautiful landscape of Kenya and all its wildlife and we are sharing it with you here.

The second team enjoyed being with the Pangani Center's 3rd graders during VBS and then about eighty 8th graders as they worked on a group art project. Pictures are below--check back tomorrow to see the final results!

A bit of a quieter day today. Church this morning at Pangani and then off to the home of our team member and native Kenyan, Alice Muriki. She and her sons hosted a lovely meal in their home, complete with roasted goat and a traditional cake.

With the former Prime Minister lying in state in the city today, we were unable to go to the learning center, so instead we'd love to share some images of local color, food and flowers. Enjoy this snapshot of the Kenyan culture we are experiencing.

GSC Travel with Purpose Trip - Day 3
Today we had our orientation at the Mission of Hope International (MOHI) Pangani Center. Some of the children sang and danced to welcome us. We learned about the history of this wonderful organization, its mission pillars, and plans for the future.
Small groups of us were then able to take walking tours of a small portion of the Mathare Valley, escorted by social workers who know the community. Approximately 1 million people live in this 2 sq. mile stretched of land. We also were invited into the homes of some of the sponsored children and got a firsthand look at the challenges these families face every day.
We were so blessed to have this opportunity to learn and see the work of MOHI up close and each of us were moved deeply.
