We know conversations about dental insurance can be frustrating for patients and dental offices alike.
Many people don’t realize that most dental insurance plans still carry yearly maximums around $1,000–$1,500, amounts that haven’t meaningfully changed in decades. In fact, those limits were originally set back in the 1950s, when dental care looked very different than it does today.
Since then, everything involved in providing quality care has increased materials, lab costs, technology, equipment, staffing, continuing education, and infection control standards, yet reimbursement rates and annual maximums have barely moved. Some insurance companies have even reduced reimbursements over the years while continuing to raise premiums.
Dental insurance can absolutely help offset costs, but it was never designed to cover every dental need for a lifetime. Unfortunately, many patients are left believing their insurance should cover everything, when in reality the benefits often fall far short of today’s actual cost of care.
At our office, we never want insurance companies making decisions about your health. Our focus is and always will be on what is best for you. We’ll always help you understand your benefits, maximize your coverage, and work with you to find the best treatment options for your smile and overall health.
Thank you for continuing to trust us with your care and for supporting local dental practices that put patients first.
