Lena carries the warmth of her Kentucky roots while proudly calling Indiana home for the past 55 years. A retired grade school teacher, Lena’s calling to nurture and encourage others did not end in the classroom. She continues to brighten the lives of those around her, young and old alike, with her playful spirit, gentle encouragement, and genuine friendship.​

​Her Christian faith guides her daily life and shapes her​ favorite craft: quilting. Years ago, Lena founded a small​ quilting group of eight women called The Nimble Thimbles.​ Today, that circle of fellowship has grown to 104 members,​ a testament to her welcoming heart and love of teaching.​

​Lena shared her belief that “our lives are like quilts.” Reading from Quilted with Love, she reminded us that God gathers the pieces of our lives and stitches them together with purpose and grace. Like Lena herself, each quilt, and each life, is uniquely beautiful.
