A HUGE congratulations to my husband, Dr. Luke Carlson, on graduating medical school! We got the official news today that he graduated on November 30, 2020.
We have worked and prayed for this day since we started dating eight years ago, and although our journey didn’t look like we thought it would, it’s so clear to see God’s hand and faithfulness through the years. We definitely couldn’t have made it through without God’s guidance, mercy, and grace. I’ve always been impressed by and proud of Luke, but watching him persevere through every challenge has given me another level of respect for him.

Congratulations, Luke Carlson, MD. I love you, and I’m SO very proud of you! ❤️

To each of you who have cheered us on and prayed for us throughout this journey, we are SO grateful for your love and support. Please continue to pray for Luke to match to a residency in March!

For many people, 2020 didn’t go as planned, and that includes us. Luke finished rotations near the end of March, but the test he needed to graduate got put on hold because of covid. Thankfully, exceptions were made so that our lives didn’t have to be on hold for two more years. On October 23, Luke finally gets to take the last part of that exam. Prayers would be appreciated has he takes his exam and applies for the match again. ❤️

And just like that four years of medical school have come to an end. (Very anti-climatically, I may add). Luke was supposed to finish today, but thanks to covid-19, we found out a few days ago that the rest of his rotation was canceled. There's still board exams, petitioning for graduation, and a lifetime of learning and training, but he's finished with the school portion!
Here's a little walk down memory lane. God has been so good and faithful on this journey, and He gets all the glory and praise! ❤️
We've been so blessed to be surrounded by so much love and support on this journey, so thank you to everyone who has love, supported, encouraged, and prayed for us! ❤️
Congratulations, Luke Carlson!

On Tuesday, Luke took the second part of his STEP 2 board exam. We had to travel to Philadelphia for it, but it was so fun to get to show Luke around and see more of the city. A huge thank you to all of you who have prayed for us and encouraged us! We won't find out the results of the test until probably in February.
Please continue to pray for Luke as he finishes his last months of medical school and for his residency application that God would open doors and lead us to the perfect place. Thank you! ❤️

Update: First of all, THANK YOU for all the prayers, support, and encouragement along the way. It means so much to us to know that so many people are praying for us! God has been so good to us on this journey!
Second, Luke officially started his 20th year of school yesterday. He's doing an anesthesiology residency, and I know he's so excited to just be able to learn and experience everything without the stress of a shelf exam at the end of each rotation. Since he's 4th year now, his rotations are all about 4 weeks long.
Last Friday, he took his USMLE Step 2 CK (a 9 hour exam over everything he's learned so far). It took him a little over 8 hours to finish, and we won't get the results for a few weeks. In November, he'll go to Philadelphia to take Step 2 CS (clinical skills portion, which is a pass/fail hands on test).
His residency application is due September 15th, so we'd appreciate prayers as we begin that long process.
Thank you again for all the prayers! ❤️

It’s starting to feel like summer here in MD, which reminds me of endless summer days in SVG. 🏝🇻🇨
