Such important information for the women in our community. Don't wait for the lump!

Most health guides show breast cancer symptoms on fair skin. On Black and Brown skin, "redness" doesn't always look red.

What to look for:
Color Changes: Look for areas that appear darker than the rest of the breast, or shades of purple or deep brown.
Texture: Dimpling that looks like an "orange peel" (peau d'orange).
Temperature: A patch of skin that feels hot or swollen—this can be a sign of Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC), which is more common in Black women.

Don't wait for a lump. If the color or texture of your skin shifts, call your provider.

Today is World Cancer Day, a global day of awareness, action, and unity in the fight against cancer.

This year’s theme, United by Unique, reminds us that while cancer affects millions worldwide, every individual journey is different and every person deserves support.

Here in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Cancer Support VI proudly carries that mission forward by supporting patients with any type of cancer, right here at home. Our programs provide:
• Financial assistance for treatment-related needs
• Travel and lodging support when off-island care is required
• Care advocacy, resources, and compassionate guidance

Because of our generous community, every dollar donated stays in the territory, directly helping Virgin Islanders facing cancer.

Today, we honor survivors, remember loved ones, and stand with those currently in treatment, reminding them they are never alone.

We’re incredibly excited about what’s ahead with the reopening of the cancer center on St. Thomas. This milestone means expanded access to care, fewer barriers for patients and families, and a stronger future for cancer care right here in the territory.

We’re proud to support a community where hope, healing, and quality care stay close to home!

Mark your calendars! This is a great opportunity on St. Thomas.
