Not all communication is verbal, and that doesn’t make it any less meaningful!

In therapy, we pay close attention to body language, eye gaze, gestures, facial expressions, movement, and shared attention. These forms of communication tell us so much about a child’s needs, interests, emotions, and readiness to engage.

At JS Therapies, we honor all ways children communicate. Our goal isn’t to force words: it’s to listen, respond, and build connection in ways that feel safe, respectful, and supportive for each child.

Because communication starts with feeling seen and understood. 💚

Did you know that JS Therapies started in partnership with Island Therapy Solutions and Dr. Ricketts in a tiny therapy room alongside Dr. Wagner in Island Medical Center back in 2011?

Even as both of our practices grew and branched into different spaces, we have collaborated closely over the years and have always loved working with Keila Medina, both as a colleague and as a parent of JS Therapies clients! We are so lucky to have her sharing her expertise and compassion with our community!

📣📣📣 We’re proud to celebrate Keila Medina, our longest‑tenured team member! She has witnessed our growth from a tiny office in Sunny Isle to serving our communities in three different locations across the territory.

👩🏽‍🎓Keila holds a BA in Psychology (2013) and an MA in Counseling/Psychology (2016) from UVI, Albert A. Sheen Campus. As a psychological assistant, she scores, interprets, and writes evaluations, documents progress, and refers families to appropriate services when needed.

📋Keila’s proudest of her diagnostic skills and of watching children she once worked with as an ABA tutor return as young adults to visit. "I enjoy working with children the most because I am able to witness natural change in real time."

In the future, she plans to train more in diagnosing to become a diagnostician and pursue Professional Counselor licensure. Thank you, Keila, for all you do for ITS; you are a most cherished part of our team and you ROCK! 🥰

We offer a flexible scheduling model, and our company's additional program offerings (such as aquatic therapy, nature- and beach-based sessions, and lactation support) have been developed based on our therapists' passions! It’s time! Registration for the BEST night of the year is officially open, and we could not be more excited! See below for details about this year's Night to Shine, lovingly hosted by St. Croix Christian Church!

On Friday, February 13, 2026, we will once again roll out the red carpet to honor and celebrate our incredible guests, along with their families and caregivers. This night is all about LOVE, JOY, and reminding every guest that they are created in the image of God and are loved unconditionally.

We need your help spreading the word!
Please tell, share, and personally invite anyone in our community who has a loved one with special needs. If you know a family who hasn’t experienced Night to Shine yet—this is their year. We want everyone to be part of this unforgettable evening.
