Gentle Confrontation with Your Girlfriend, Dr. K – Episode 3
Competition is Conditioned

Is competition between women truly natural… or have we been conditioned to believe it is?

In this episode, Dr. K explores how conditioning—through repeated messages, experiences, and environments—shapes how we think, feel, and behave, often without us even realizing it.

This gentle confrontation invites us to pause, reflect, and consider a different way of relating to one another as Girlfriends.

Our Story

My Girlfriend's Closet STX is a darling boutique on St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands that aims to 'Empower Women Through Fashion, Faith & Friendship' through fashion that is made by women, for women and through its international campaign #Girlfriendism. The MGC brick and mortar is more than 'just a store' and rather, a safe space for women to be their authentic selves while having an empowering shopping experience! MGC is: (1) a one-stop-shop for women with new and exclusive designer apparel, footwear and handmade accessories by women - for women as well as local art by El'Roy Simmonds; (2) a 'for profit' business with a ‘non profit’, philanthropic approach to business. MGC hosts multiple events throughout the year to raise awareness on women’s issues such as breast cancer and domestic violence; as well as raise funds for charitable organizations addressing women's issues on the island of St. Croix, USVI and/or abroad; and (3) a design concept and store ambiance that is intended to celebrate the positive qualities of four girlfriends: the casual bohemian , the classy professional, the comfy athlete and the chic trendsetter - inspired by the owner and her dearest girlfriends: Khnuma (Owner), Carmen (Mom), Xaulanda (Sister) and Xauskya (Niece). Regardless of which 'girlfriend' you are, MGC will celebrate your uniqueness, quench your thirst for trendy yet conscious fashions and most importantly, aim to empower you while you empower others. After all - what are girlfriends for?

#Girlfriendism Defined:

  • The Art of Being a Girlfriend

  • Being a woman whose empowerment serves others
