Hey everyone! It's been a while, so I’d like to take a moment to reintroduce myself.
I’m Corey, the one who’s been working behind the scenes lately. I've taken a brief break from teaching since I was pregnant with my second little girl, who was born in mid-July—just a day after my birthday! Now that I’ve had some time to embrace this new chapter in my life, I wanted to reach out and let you know how excited I am to get back on the mat with all of you. When I'm not thinking about caring for my little ones, my mind often drifts to yoga—specifically, how I can continue to share this practice and its offerings with our community on St. John and our visitors!
First and foremost, a huge shoutout to Jean and Eliza for holding down the public classes and private offerings this past season. Ten straight months of consistent yoga on our little island—my heart skips a beat! Love City Yoga began in 2021 because I recognized a lack of year-round wellness offerings for both locals and visitors. Before moving to St. John, I was a visitor myself, and I would have loved to take part in oceanside yoga classes. It became clear to me that I needed to create that experience, and thus, Love City Yoga was born. Leaving my beloved go-to yoga studio when I moved here in 2019 was one of the toughest parts of the transition.
Whenever I travel, I love exploring the local yoga scene. It connects me to the wellness community wherever I am and enriches my personal practice. This desire is the essence of Love City Yoga. Whether you’re a visitor passing through or a long-time local, I aim to create spaces that foster healing, wellness, and movement.
With that said, we are currently taking a break from our weekly public classes this month, but they will resume in October, so stay tuned! In the meantime, Jean will be offering an exclusive Inversion Workshop at Golden Hour on September 28th from 10-11:30am.
Since we don’t have weekly public classes currently, I still wanted to create an opportunity to stay connected to these practices. We are going to try out some virtual wellness offerings.
Every Tuesday night for the remainder of September, I’ll be hosting virtual donation-based classes from 7:30 to 8:30 PM EST via Zoom. These classes are open to anyone, regardless of your location or experience level!
Here’s the lineup:
- 9/16: Breathwork
- 9/23: Slow Flow Movement
- 9/30: Meditation
The Zoom link will be provided on the day of each event. Donations can be made via Venmo or PayPal. Please feel free to direct message me to obtain the meeting room and donation links.
Looking forward to reconnecting with all of you soon either on Zoom or back on the mat on STJ.
