Hurricane Watch Update:

The National Weather Service in Puerto Rico has upgraded the tropical storm watch for the U.S. Virgin Islands, the British Virgin Islands, Vieques, and Culebra to a hurricane watch as Tropical Storm Ernesto is expected to intensify and strengthen over the next 24 hours.

At this time, Myrah Keating Smith Community Health Center (MKS) will remain open and continue to provide emergency care. We are closely monitoring Ernesto, with the safety of our patients and staff as our top priority.

Should weather conditions worsen, we are prepared to relocate our operations to the St. John Rescue facility. We will promptly update the community with any changes and continue to provide all necessary information here and through VITEMA.

The SRMC Emergency Room remains open 24/7, fully staffed and ready to assist.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our dedicated teams at MKS on St. John and RLSH for their unwavering commitment to our community.

Please stay safe, and thank you for trusting us with your care.

The Schneider Regional Medical Center team is saddened by the passing of our organization's namesake Dr. Roy Lester Schneider. We express our sincere condolences to his wife, Barbara, and to his family.

Dr. Schneider contributed significantly to healthcare in the US Virgin Islands, as a practicing physician, as the Commissioner for the Department of Health, and as the Governor of the US Virgin Islands. Dr. Schneider’s service to the people of the US Virgin Islands and his impact on our healthcare system will not be forgotten.

At Schneider Regional Medical Center, we mourn Dr. Schneider’s passing and we will continue to honor his legacy by remaining steadfast in our commitment to providing high quality healthcare to the residents and visitors of the US Virgin Islands.

SRMC REMINDS THE PUBLIC OF MASK REQUIREMENT IN HEALTHCARE FACILITIES

St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands — Schneider Regional Medical Center Chief Executive Officer, Attorney Tina M. Comissiong, CEO, is reminding the public that face masks are required to enter all healthcare facilities in the Territory.

Although the COVID-19 mask mandates have been lifted for most areas in the US Virgin Islands, wearing face masks in healthcare settings remains mandatory. Variants of COVID-19, Influenza, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) are prevalent and pose significant health risks for hospitalized patients and staff.

Therefore, to ensure the health and safety of our patients, employees, visitors, and the community, we are asking for the public's cooperation and compliance when entering our facilities, including the Roy L. Schneider Hospital and the Myrah Keating Smith Community Health Center on St. John.
