My neighbor walked over yesterday and said my patriotic decorations were making people “uncomfortable.”

She said America has too many problems to celebrate right now.

I told her this country isn’t perfect…
but millions sacrificed everything so we could still have freedom today 🇺🇸

So no… I’m not taking it down.

In fact, I ordered another one for my front door.

America turns 250 in 2026.

Are we celebrating… or staying silent?

This is what a history book looks like when it tells the truth.

The man holding this map represents millions of voices that were erased. For generations, his ancestors lived on this land. They had nations, languages, governments, and borders long before America had a name.

Then history class started at chapter 2.

They taught us about 1776. But they skipped the thousands of years before it.

Why?

Because this map makes people uncomfortable. It forces a question most schools won't answer: If someone was already home... who were the real "first Americans"?

"How can you speak for Native people if you're not full blood?"

I smiled.

Because being Native was never just about percentages.
It’s about the stories passed down by grandparents.
The songs sung around the fire.
The prayers whispered to the earth.
The respect for ancestors who walked this land long before borders existed.

At school, most of us were taught to memorize all 50 U.S. states.
But almost no one was taught that before those borders existed…
Over **1,000 Native tribes, nations, and communities** lived across North America.
Entire languages disappeared.
Entire nations were removed from maps.
And many people are only learning this now.
So here’s the real question:
**Why isn’t this map shown in every classroom?**
Should students learn this history too?
