✅ 17-OHP TEST - SCREENING FOR ADRENAL GLAND DISORDERS
17-OHP (17-hydroxyprogesterone) is a steroid hormone produced in the adrenal glands during the process of cortisol synthesis. When cortisol production is impaired, particularly due to 21-hydroxylase deficiency, the conversion of 17-OHP to cortisol is reduced, leading to increased levels in the blood.
🌟 To support early detection, FAMILY has now implemented the 17-OHP test.
The 17-OHP test is mainly used to:
• Screen and support the diagnosis of Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH), especially in newborns
• Evaluate disorders in the process of cortisol synthesis
• Monitor treatment response in patients with CAH
Elevated 17-OHP levels may also be seen in conditions such as adrenal tumors, ovarian or testicular tumors, polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS), or other disorders affecting steroid hormone production.
👉 Early testing plays an important role in detecting adrenal disorders and guiding appropriate clinical management.
