What should you do after Microneedling?
Proper aftercare following microneedling is crucial to ensure optimal healing and maximize results.
1. Avoid Touching the Treated Area: Refrain from touching your face for at least 6-12 hours post-treatment to minimize the risk of infection. Your skin may be particularly sensitive immediately after the procedure.
2. Gentle Cleansing: After 24 hours, cleanse your face using a mild, non-irritating cleanser. Avoid harsh scrubbing or the use of exfoliating products for at least one week to prevent irritation.
3. Hydration: Apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated and promote healing. Look for products formulated specifically for sensitive or post-procedure skin.
4. Sun Protection: Your skin will be more susceptible to sun damage following microneedling. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) daily, even when indoors, and avoid direct sun exposure for at least 48-72 hours.
5. Refrain from Makeup (48-72 Hours): Avoid makeup application for at least 48 hours following treatment. For optimal healing, consider waiting 72 hours before resuming makeup use, as the skin may still be sensitive.
6. Avoid Harsh Skincare Products: For the first few days, avoid using products containing retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), or exfoliants, as these can further irritate the treated skin. Stick to gentle, hydrating formulas.
7. Limit Heat and Sweating: Avoid activities that induce excessive heat or sweating, such as intense exercise, hot showers, or saunas, for at least 24-48 hours after treatment. Heat can irritate sensitive skin and impede the healing process.
8. Do Not Pick or Scratch: While mild flaking or peeling may occur, avoid picking at or scratching the treated skin to reduce the risk of scarring and infection.
9. Maintain Hydration: Ensure adequate hydration by drinking plenty of water, which supports the healing process and helps maintain skin health.
10. Follow Professional Guidance: Adhere to any additional aftercare instructions provided by your practitioner, including the use of specific products or precautions tailored to your skin type and treatment.
