Concrete Surface Hardness Test
The Concrete Surface Hardness Test is used to check how hard and strong the top surface of concrete is without damaging it.
The most common tool used is a Schmidt Rebound Hammer.
How it works:
1. A spring-loaded plunger strikes the concrete surface.
2. It gives a rebound number.
3. Higher rebound number = stronger & harder concrete.
4. Lower rebound number = weak or poorly compacted surface.
Uses:
Quick non-destructive test (NDT)
Checking uniformity of concrete strength
Evaluating surface quality
Useful for old structures, repairs, and quality checks on site.
