⭐️ A NEW APPROACH TO MANAGING OBESITY AND ITS COMPLICATIONS

A representative from FV Hospital recently delivered a presentation at the 14th Expanded Central Highlands Cardiology Conference, held in Da Lat on 9 and 10 August 2025. The event brought together more than 500 delegates, including scientists, doctors, and cardiology specialists from across the country.

This year’s conference themed “Updates in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolic Diseases”, focused on major medical challenges with significant implications for public health.

In a topical session, Specialist Level II, Nguyen Viet Quynh Thu, MSc, Head of Dietetics & Nutrition at FV Hospital, delivered a presentation titled “A New Horizon in Managing Obesity and Its Complications through Medication, Scientific Nutrition, and a Healthy Lifestyle,” Dr Thu offered a fresh perspective on obesity management. She emphasised that obesity is not merely a cosmetic issue, but a significant risk factor for dangerous chronic diseases, impacting cardiovascular health, disrupting the endocrine system, and reducing patients’ overall quality of life.

❤️ PREPARING FOR LUNG CANCER SURGERY, DOCTORS DISCOVER A “TIME BOMB” IN PATIENT’S BRAIN

Ms D.N. Nga, who was about to undergo surgery for lung cancer, was unexpectedly found to have a giant brain arteriovenous malformation – a “time bomb” that could rupture at any moment during surgery.

Faced with this high-risk situation, FV Hospital collaborated with a network of leading experts from Vietnam and Singapore to develop a precise treatment strategy that helped the patient overcome a life-or-death challenge.

The multidisciplinary consultation concluded that the brain malformation did not require immediate intervention. The top priority was to perform lung cancer surgery while the tumour was still at an early stage.

On 31 July, with just a 3 cm incision, FV’s surgical team led by Specialist Level II, Luong Ngoc Trung, MD, MSc successfully removed the entire tumour.

An hour later, Dr Trung stepped out of the operating room. Despite being visibly tired, he came to meet the patient’s family and explained every detail of the surgery. “That moment will stay with me forever. Dr Trung not only saved my wife’s life but also gave us strength throughout the entire treatment journey,” shared Mr Phong, the patient’s husband.
