Om (or Aum) is a sacred sound and a spiritual symbol in Hinduism, that signifies the essence of the ultimate reality,
consciousness or Atman. It is a syllable found in the Vedic literature of Hinduism, such as the Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita and yoga sutra.

The Mandukya Upanishad further explains that Om is both the cause and the effect of all that exists in the universe,
and that it is the source of all knowledge. It is the beginning and the end of all creation. It is the one reality that pervades all existence, and it is the one truth that lies beyond all duality.
The Upanishad concludes by stating that meditating on Om leads to the realization of the highest truth.
