Is running bad for your knees? 😊
Great post by The Freshman Physio:
β€œRecent evidence shows runners had similar age related changes to non runners with knee OA on X-RAY. .
They also founds runners reported less symptoms suggesting benefits of running for knee health.
This is not a call to get everyone running with knee pain. But certainly do NOT get all your runners to stop and pick up cycling as a new sport.
Runners need to be reassured they can continue without fear and may even lead to improvements in symptoms.
As always, running needs to be programmed and loaded appropriate to a runners ability and symptoms. And always coupled with an appropriate strengthening program.
