Cuidiú Athenry Breastfeeding Group runs twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Saturday in "The old Barracks restaurant" from 10 until 12. Missions Statement:
“To provide a warm, caring and supportive environment for breastfeeding women in Athenry and beyond. Any woman, whether she is pregnant or breastfeeding for any length of time, will be given the information and encouragement to embark on and conti
nue her breastfeeding journey, and to reach her personal breastfeeding goals, whatever they may be.”
All expectant, new and experienced mums are always very welcome.
• Are you pregnant and thinking of breastfeeding? But you’d like to find out a bit more information before the birth.
• Are you a new mum trying to get feeding successfully established?
• If breastfeeding is going well, maybe you’d just like to get out of the house and meet other mums?
• Perhaps you would like to get some information and tips from other mums and from our Cuidiu breastfeeding councillors? Why not bring your baby and come along to enjoy a cuppa and a chat, with other breastfeeding mums. It’s a chance to get support and guidance and even just a have a laugh in a relaxed atmosphere. Here's a quote from a mum who attended our group:
"The Athenry Breastfeeding Support Group is the reason I continued BF'ing my daughter for longer than 2 weeks. I am a new first time mom, and none of my friends had babies, so I was a real newbie to everything. When I went to the first meeting, I realised what I was feeling was what every new mom was feeling - does this constant feeding ever end, is baby getting enough, have I enough supply and lots more. My PHN put me in touch with one of the councillors first, and this initial meeting saved my sanity. I cannot thank this group enough, and am so glad that I persevered when I was feeling shaky about the whole situation. My baby got the best available and I will always be grateful for the encouragement to keep going. It does get easier, and it very fulfilling."
